  9. Jimmy grew up in California and learned the 
  10. game from his mother, Gloria, who was a 
  11. tennis instructor. Later, Jimmy was coached
  12. by Pancho Segura, a great player in the
  13. 1940ΓÇÖs and 1950ΓÇÖs.

  15. In 1970, Jimmy entered the University of 
  16. California at Los Angeles (UCLA), and in
  17. 1971, he won the NCAA menΓÇÖs singles
  18. title. Jimmy turned pro in 1972.
